Your clients are the lifeblood of your business. Without them, there’s no way you’d be able to keep your doors open with their patronage. You can keep them coming back time and time again by developing a strong working relationship as you let them know how much you appreciate their business. One way you can show your appreciation is by saying thank you. If you’re not sure about a good way to approach this, we have five suggestions for you.
You don’t have to be creative or cute with it, but you can always send an old-fashioned thank-you note. It can be handwritten and mailed or sent as an ecard. Either way, this is a great way to let your clients know that you truly appreciate their business and you look forward to working with them again in the future. A thank you note should include a short message beyond simply saying, “Thanks,” but doesn’t have to be a whole lot more than that.
Sometimes a thank you note can feel very formal. If that’s not your style or you worry about making a client feel uncomfortable, you can always send a simple email showing how thankful you are to be working with them. The email doesn’t have to be the length of an epic novel, but it should still be personalized. Address them directly, say thank you for your business, acknowledge the product or service they bought, then close it.
If you really want to impress a client, you can go the extra mile with personalized gifts. The possibilities are endless when it comes to finding quality objects that you can have your logo printed on and sent off to a client and their team. You can get items like reusable shopping bags, insulated water bottles, pens, or anything else you can think of.
Beyond simply sending some swag over, you can choose your items based on how large of an account they have with you. Start by getting lesser items with your smaller clients then build up to bigger and better items for the clients who bring in a considerable amount of money for you. Print a custom message, your logo, or another special design on the product and send it over as a thank you.
If you send your clients receipts or invoices, you can always include a personalized thank you note on it. This is a great way to let them know that their contribution to your business doesn’t go unnoticed and you are truly grateful to be working with them. This can be something as simple as a printed thank you to something as elaborate as a special note that comes with every receipt or invoice.
It’s great to be able to say thanks to your clients when they send you money for goods or services, but there aren’t many ways better than remembering milestones and anniversaries. Make special note of when clients first started working with you, when they’ve reached a certain point in their business because of the product or service that you provide, as well as awards or anniversaries with their business. This can help to strengthen your business relationship with them while letting them know that you’re aware of the work they do as well.
As we previously mentioned above with the gifts, people love to get swag. Nothing says thanks better than giving away free stuff or saving money at the very least. You can send your clients free products from your business to let them know how truly grateful you are for their business. Remember that you don’t always have to send the big-ticket items. Although, if you’re sending a free product to a client it should still be significant. Sending a free product is like giving flowers on a date. It’s said that nothing says, “I’m cheap,” like a single rose. Be sure to give something that has some substance behind it.
If you don’t feel like you can give a substantial product, offer a discount code. Let them save money on the products or services that you sell so they can still enjoy it without having to pay full price. How much of a discount you offer is entirely up to you and the cost of what you sell. However, 10-15% often isn’t considered enough of a price drop to most buyers to go out of their way to spend money.
